What is Website Spoofing?

Website spoofing is the process of creating websites that are intended for misleading visitors. Spoof websites are a hoax and typically adopt the target website’s look with identical URLs and design. In scenarios involving sophisticated attacks, attackers can develop a “shadow copy” of the World Wide Web, ensuring that victims’ traffic passes through their machine. It is a strategy that allows hackers to collect sensitive information for malicious purposes. Another technique hackers use in website spoofing is utilising a “cloaked” URL. This tactic entails using control characters or domain forwarding to make URLs appear more genuine, but in actual sense, the real address for a malicious website is hidden.
