Threat actors are individuals or entities with the capability to impact the security of networks and systems negatively. A threat actor is the umbrella term used to define any person or group that conducts any malicious activity against organisations or enterprises within the cyber security space. Notably, threat actors can either be internal or external to the target organisation. The ones who possess technical skills to breach corporate computer systems and networks are called hackers. It is important to note that the term threat actor also encompasses sources of security incidents involving negligence, espionage and mistakes.
