Flagship Group, a large housing provider in the East of England, came to us with a need for additional bespoke cyber security training.

Flagship wanted the training to complement their online awareness training and phishing campaigns that were already in place. The training also had to be interactive and tailored to their business and the housing sector, with a focus on the roles and departments that they had identified as ‘high risk’.

We worked closely with Flagship, carrying out initial workshops with key stakeholders to identify their objectives and to ensure that the delegates would benefit from the knowledge and experience of our cyber security consultants.

Once we understood Flagship’s objectives, our solution was to deliver remote bespoke cyber security training to individual departments such as Human Resources, Finance and IT Support. Sessions were split into two distinct parts to ensure ‘high-risk’ teams and individuals received real value from their time spent with us.

The first half included general cyber security awareness topics covering threats such as Phishing, Social Engineering and Email Compromise, as well as password and device security.

The second half of each session was tailored to the main potential threats identified for each department. For example, within the finance session, we highlighted areas such as invoice fraud potential and scrutinised the processes and the types of data held and how these could be exploited.

The IT Team received a technically focused second half, exploring areas such as exploits, access risks and security of administration credentials.

Nadine Tapp, Head of Flagship’s Academy said; ‘We’re seeing more and more cybercrime in the UK, and it’s important that we provide our people with the relevant training. CyberScale approached this project collaboratively, and really took the time to understand us and the housing sector. We found their employees knowledgeable, and the interactive sessions were exactly what we were looking for.’

Our approach enabled us to build on the general awareness by really homing in on what was most relevant and personal for the delegates. Alongside this, feedback from the sessions was that the training will not only benefit Flagship’s people at work, but also in their personal lives.

Reflecting on building this bespoke solution for Flagship, Darren Chapman, Director & Principal Consultant at CyberScale said; “An increasing number of organisations are realising the importance of interactive, engaging training that is relevant and beneficial to their teams both at work and in their personal lives.  As security consultants working with a wide variety of clients, we get to see every day the direct impact that the approach to training has on security posture. Flagship is a great example of an organisation who really understand what a difference this can make”.
